Maggie's paintings are nature abstracted, using exaggerated scales, movement, and patterns to explore the themes of nature, healing, and human connection. Her passion is creating art, sharing her love of art, and living a creative life alongside others, inspiring them to do the same. She maintains an active ceramics and painting studio practice and has taught art at all levels, from elementary to college, as well as adults. Maggie completed her M.F.A. in Painting from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2021. She also holds a Master's of Educational Leadership from Michigan State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Loyola University in Chicago.

Too many to mention, but I love all the jewelry at JSD!
What is a favorite local spot?
You can find Jeff and I at JWs at least once a week.
Do you have a favorite smell?
I love the smell of oil paint, but also the smell of milkweed blooming in the summer.
What inspires you?
Nature and color are the primary inspirations for my work.

What are some of your favorite mainstream musical artists?
I'm currently enjoying Stevie Nicks and Trevor Hall but also love Dawes!
Your favorite bite?
Popcorn popped on the stove with salt & butter...brings back memories of family movie nights.

If you were thrown into a teaching position at Grand Haven High School, what would you teach our 14-18 year olds, given free rein?
I would teach a sewing class where we upcycle clothing into unique wearable and sculptural pieces of art. I loved sewing in high school and would have loved a class like that.
Thank you for sharing a glimpse of yourself and your amazing art!
